Sigh... This look was a lot harder than I expected it to be. I started over several times trying to make it work. Basically what I did was draw larger eyes around my eyes in a way that fit my regular eyes, but that was difficult. Then I put white around my real eyes to make it look like the whites of my eyes extended farther. After that I added eyelashes which was surprisingly very difficult to make realistic. Lastly I put shadow on my eyes to look like I was wearing makeup.
I think what I learned from this was that I need to not draw the eyelashes because the made things look very unrealistic, and I feel it would have looked better without.
Here is my before, then my first attempt, and lastly the final result.

Green Fairy
I have been looking at doing a poisin ivy/fairy makeup. I'm considering it for the free day in costume and makeup, so having bought the materials I decided to practice on my niece. Here is the inspiration shot, and the after.
Unfortunately the green didn't photograph too well, and also you can't see the green on the side of her face. I think the eyes and the sparkly dots turned out the best. Anyway what I did was I put foundation on her, then I used green eyeshadow on her forehead, cheeks, and jawbone. Then I put the two colors on her eyes using eyeshadow and water. I put on the eyeliner and put gold eyeshadow on the nose. Lasting using children's red, blue, and green glitter glue I made the dots. Then the mascara and lipstick.
I think what I learned was that for the overall green on the skin I should have used water as well, like I did with the eyes. Also next time the very last thing I will do is the dots, cause putting on the mascara I messed up the dots above her right eyebrow. Lastly I would add more contouring. Looking back at the picture I see a lot more was used than just the green on the forehead, cheeks, and jawbone, and the gold on the nose.
I really think it helps to practice putting makeup on my nieces, because it is so completely different from putting it on myself, and it's quite a challenge to position my hand so that I don't mess up parts of makeup on the rest of the face. Though I wish I'd had more time because I was planning on fixing her hair and using colored hairspray in it.

Adolescent Zombie
In costume and makeup we did zombies again! This time I didn't do quite as well, because I would get to a good point, try to add more and it would then not look as good as it had before. My scratches for example I used the nose and scar wax and put makeup over it, and it looked good. Then I added latex around the edges hoping to make it look like a deeper gouge but it made it too wide. So on something smaller like scratches one or the other is best with latex and scar wax. Then for my sores I used latex, on this I used latex to lightly and needed more. Lastly the fake blood. The fake blood completely messed up my sores, covering most of the yellow I put on to make it look infected. It didn't treat my scratches too badly, but it still covered up some of my definition and I think a very tiny amount of blood would have served me better. One good thing is I remembered to put up my hair so it didn't get stuck in my makeup and then mess it up.
Here is my second zombie. I call it an adolescent zombie because the sores are the zombie affliction of acne.

This Is Halloween
Halloween was a crazy day for me. I really needed to study for history, but I knew if I didn't give myself a break after hell week I was going to burn out. For me that most likely means a full out, sobbing, panic attack. Desiring to forego the delights of a panic attack I hung out at a friends house and watched Beetlejuice. Then when my friend drove me home we got to have a long, relaxing conversation about all that had been going on of late. All of this helped rid me of stress and I managed to not have a panic attack at all this week. Yay! To give a downer note I ate a lot of candy and pizza, which is all very bad for me.
Before going to watch the movie I helped my niece with her jester makeup. First is my inspiration picture, second is my attempt. Sadly the fake eyelashes were too heavy for my niece and so had to be trimmed down so she could open her eyes.

Argh! Zombies Invade TLU Campus!
Today was Zombie day in my makeup class. All you could see around you were horrifying, disgusting corpses. RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!! Funnily enough doing the wounds was the easiest part, the challenge was figuring out what to do with the parts of me that weren't bloody scabs and wounds. I also learned that I need to wear my hair up when applying makeup or my hair gets stuck in the wax and latex, messing everything up when I try to take it out. I also think I figured out how to do bruises though my bruising got covered up by the massive gash on my neck. Next Friday since we are doing zombies again I want to try and go full body if I'm allowed to.
